How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records with a Greensboro address, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 11, 2026, and against the U.S. Census Bureau’s city limits. We added Mac’s Speed Shop and Stamey’s West Gate City Boulevard restaurant from their own sites. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. The places

Country Barbeque on West Wendover Avenue describes itself as North Carolina barbecue, smoked low and slow and served fast. It is the only place on this list that opens for breakfast, at 6 a.m.

Hickory Tree Turkey BBQ on Randleman Road cooks its barbecue from turkey instead of pork: chopped turkey barbecue, turkey legs and turkey wings, according to its site. It also caters.

Mac’s Speed Shop is a barbecue restaurant with locations in North and South Carolina. Its Greensboro restaurant on Battleground Avenue takes online orders and caters, and it keeps the latest hours on this list.

Stamey’s Barbecue was founded in 1930 and says it pit-cooks Lexington-style barbecue pork exclusively over hardwood coals, served with its own barbecue dip. It has two Greensboro restaurants, on Battleground Avenue and on West Gate City Boulevard near the Coliseum; its site lists a drive-thru, a dining room, pickup, delivery and catering.

OpenStreetMap and local discussion also name other barbecue places in Greensboro, but we could not reach a website of their own to confirm an address and hours. We will add them when we can.
