Guilford County voters cast 20,788 early ballots in person on the first two days of early voting, Thursday and Friday. That is 62% more than on the first two days of the last midterm, in 2022.

The figures come from the N.C. State Board of Elections absentee and early voting file for the Nov. 3 election, which the state updates each morning. We counted accepted early voting ballots in the copy published Sunday, Oct. 18.

Early voting resumes at 8 a.m. Monday at all 17 sites. None of the 17 is on a college campus.

No campus sites this year

The county’s early voting schedule lists the 17 sites. Union Square Campus is at 124 E. Gate City Blvd. It is a shared building run as a partnership of Cone Health, Guilford Technical Community College, N.C. A&T and UNC Greensboro.

Two years ago the map was different. In the 2024 presidential election, the state file shows 28 early voting sites in the county, including:

  • UNCG Kaplan Center for Wellness: 6,799 ballots over the whole early voting period
  • N.C. A&T: 6,482 ballots
  • GTCC Cameron Campus: 3,461 ballots

The 2022 midterm had 15 sites and none on a campus.

How many younger voters turned out

Voters under 25 cast 1,096 of the 20,788 ballots on the first two days, or 5.3%. On the first two days of the 2022 midterm, voters under 25 cast 340 of 12,805, or 2.7%.

In 2024, with campus sites open and a presidential race on the ballot, voters under 25 cast 2,040 of 36,664 ballots on the first two days, or 5.6%.

Ages are as recorded in the state file. Two days is an early read: in 2022, the first two days were about 13% of all early votes cast in the county.
